This paper introduces a kind of general tool for live work insulator replacement for 500 kV suspension angle tower considering the character of multiple hanging points of towers in Jiangsu province. Also, the analysis on the mechanical property of this general tool is provided. Then using the finite element method the precise force model of the general tool is build, and the stress distribution of its each part is investigated. Calculation results show that the general tool meets mechanical strength requirement.
